Hellgate London: "Fire" Game Play Vid

MmMMmm. Reaper. *purr purr* I don't care about the last 4 min of the video, but the Reaper will be mine. Oh yes.

An Evening With Kevin Smith

I saw the first one that was released back in 2002 and that was pretty funny since it wasn't as much schtick. If you enjoy his shit, I would definitely recommend the first part(IMDB info.) But I finally caught the 2nd part, called, "An Evening With Kevin Smith: Evening Harder," and while it has its moment, the Toronto part was like watching a terrible stand up act. (IMDB info for the 2nd part.) Gimme Wanda Sykes any day. Seriously.

Anyhoo, just wanted to share XD

System Requirements: Can You Run It?

I used this a while back to check if I could run AOC or not (and failed miserably) and use it every so often to see where I'm at. I'm getting a new rig (hurray) soon so hopefully (actually, they better be) I will be a WINNER this time and not a loser like before. It's pretty up to date, so you can even see if Crysis'll run for your rig:

As a warning, there is the slightest bit of a download if you're not into those things.

I actually passed Crysis. Take that!

Aww, Biel Ixnays Wonder Woman

Sauce:

Biel Passes on Wonder Woman role

Sep 27, 2007, 09:34 PM | by Sean Smith

EW has learned that actress Jessica Biel has decided to pass on playing Wonder Woman in Warner Bros. live-action adaptation of Justice League of America. The former 7th Heaven star had been in early talks to play the Amazonian princess. She's currently shooting the drama Powder Blue with Forest Whitaker. —Nicole Sperling

Boo hoo.

Please officially refuse Chun Li as well.

Perfect World: First Impressions

Wow.

I'm actually impressed. I mean, come on, given the quality of F2P games out there I was actually quite pleasant surprised with PW so far. Well, other than the forced ass C-POP piped in telling me to "step into a perfect world; a place where you'll be fleeeee."

I actually got stuck in character creation (like most girls I suspect) for half an hour--I mean, even Oblivion didn't allow you to fix just "one" eye. Yeah yeah, for the most part, people don't look that different once you're on screen, and you can't make yourself fat, but at least you know you had a huge hand at making your avatar the fiercest and most gorgeous you could.

My stupid ass character:

Questing so far is pretty straight forward. Kill X many things. Collect X many things by killing X many things. Talk to Y to collect X. Combat also is 1, 2, 1, 2, with "Asian" style attacks. But I gotta admit, jumping 50 feet into the air is pretty awesome. I haven't gotten around to flying yet, but I did see someone who was and it looked pretty neat.

Oh, and this one has random mobs that blow up into a gazillion lootz! HURRAY!

Wow wee, I haven't played a M&M in a long time. The one I remember the most for some reason was Might and Magic II for the Genesis of all things:

Talk about blast from the past.

Check out these awesome graphics which back then I thought were the bomb:

Compare that to now:

Ahh, memories.

Lootz: A Minor Treatise

I love loot.

No, make that, "I love lootz." And I love its cousin "lewtz." And I even have a soft spot for its second cousin, "phat lewtz."

And right now, in this one game I'm playing/testing right now, I'm at about the LootCon 4 of happiness. Lemme try to set the scene up:

1) Rush up to a boss mob in first person.
2) Beat its tubby ass down.
3) Watch as said boss mob turns into a geyser of gold and greens and blues and oranges and more right in your face.

That's right, we're talking Loot Bukkake (TM!?), and trust me, there's noting more beautiful. *tear*

I feel like Scrooge McDuck (sans the webbed feet and top hat)!!

So good, so very good.

And on that note, it's time to sleep because when I starting going on and on about loot bukkake it means I've been up too fuckin' long.

MORE LOOTZ TOMORROAHH! (I mean, today!)

Chronicles of Spellborn: Q&A Session

It's long! And incredibly informative! So read it when you have some time (like during work.)

The link:

http://www.tcos.com/sbforum/viewtopic.php?t=11442

This particular Q&A Session covers body slots, skills and combos.

For me, the body slots (no, not body shots) were the most interesting read. A couple examples:

Bodyslots:

Q: How many bodyslots will one receive and how many can be visible on any given time (on the blood warrior and the runemage for example)?

A: It’s different per subclass, ranging from 10 to 15 bodyslot items per subclass. Only 5 can be equipped in the bodyslot-bar at any time, though. Tattoo’s and Scars show on torso, arms and head.

Q: The rune mages body slots are tattoo’s.. Will it be looking like normal tattoos or will they have some glow particle effect, etc.?

A: They’ll look like normal tattoos, but with specific shapes. Glows and particle’s, however awesome, are on the post release to-do(/wish) list. It’s one of those things I really want, but then again there are many of those.

Sounds pretty sweet. And different. I like it!

Jericho: Demo Unleashed

Bored? Just a slacker? Didn't get into the HG:L Beta and what some zombizzles to blow up?

Well then mosey on over to FilePlanet to download the Jericho Demo.

At least one company kept their promises and released their demo on time! *hiss Crysis hiss*

Perfect World: Marriage System

It's one of the hot topics on the Official Perfect World INTL boards, and now it's been implemented. That's right! Now you and yours can seal your fates together (whilst looking lifeless may I add) in a F2P Asian grinder game.

*swoon*

According to the article, the only requirements for marriage are:

1) Players must be in a hetero couple.
2) Players must be over level 20.

*snort*

Now, I laff but yes, at one shameful point in my life I was married in a game, and a MUD to boot. But I didn't settle just for anyone. No, not me, for I managed to snag one of the Devs of the game with my uber RP skills (that's right bitches, I married up.) Then during the ceremony (dead creatures every where since we were a "Chaos" couple), he typed /k instead of /kiss and ended up doing like a bajillion points of damage to me killing me on the spot.

Needless to say, that didn't last.

"Justice League of America": Jessica Biel = Wonder Woman? (Hoooo.)

Oh oh, what now!?

First there were the "Street Fighter" rumours about her playing Chun Li (WTF?) and now this! Bitch is everywhere!

Justice League of America Spoilers!
UGO has the scoop!
by Jeff Giles | September 26, 2007

George Miller's Justice League of America is on Warner Bros.' production fast track -- and so, apparently, is the film's rumor mill.

Hot on the heels of the news that Jessica Biel is in talks to join the JLA cast as Wonder Woman, UGO brings us a barrelful of spoilers -- supposedly cribbed directly from the script, which was read by a "deep cover source."

You know the drill by now: We aren't going to share them here (in fact, we're studiously avoiding them), but for those of you who just can't resist the spoiler's siren song, that link below is all that stands between you and pre-release Justice League nirvana. Happy reading!

Anyhow, here are the spoiler links in case you want to know which heroes have made the line up:

Spoiler 1
Spoiler 2

Once again, it's not like I don't like Jessica Biel but...I don't see it! I just don't see it!

Quit Your Job! Play WoW! ???!? Profit! (Or not.)

The first post is a WTF. For real. WTF.

BBC UK wins all.

The high cost of playing Warcraft
By Cristina Jimenez
Technology reporter

A record has been set for the sale of virtual items in an online game as a World of Warcraft account is believed to have changed hands for almost £5,000 (7,000 euros).

The deal was done in early September and for their money the new owner got a level 70 night elf rogue called Zeuzo.

The price was so high because Zeuzo possessed magical items, including the twin Warglaives of Azzinoth, owned by only a handful of Warcraft's nine million active players.

The powerful items were gained by the character's original owner completing some of the most challenging parts of the game.

Cash call

World of Warcraft is an online fantasy world in which players create characters and take them adventuring. The characters gain experience and become more powerful by doing all sorts of quests (kill this, find that, deliver this).

At the higher levels many players band together to go on raids to kill the most powerful enemies and get the best loot.

Zeuzo's creator, who took the rogue from level zero to high level hero, was contacted for the BBC by other players but he would not confirm or deny reports of the sale.

The Method guild of which Zeuzo was a member also declined to comment on the the sale.

However, the BBC does have independent confirmation that the account was sold for a figure of about 7,000 euros.

Some Warcraft players who know Zeuzo's creator did speak out.

On condition of anonymity one said: "The trade was simple. It was a case of the buyer finding out that Zeuzo was currently the best geared rogue in game."

"Zeuzo received a whisper from a person who said that wanted to buy his account and convinced him by offering more and more money each time for it."

He said Method was disappointed to lose such a good character, but at the same time, understood the final decision.

Oliver Koppany, a fellow player chosen by Zeuzo as a "spokesperson" added: "He had been undergoing financial hardship and that was the only reason why he sold the account."

The new owner moved the valuable rogue to another server and re-named it Shaks.

High risk

Bill Vaughan, editor of IncGame's World of Warcraft website, said many people bought accounts to get over the grind of taking a character to the highest levels of the game.

"It generally takes an average person anything up to 600 game play hours to reach the current highest level," said Ms Vaughan.

Account selling is a growing phenomenon and the average price currently hovers around the £200 mark.

"The problem is," said Ms Vaughan, "you have no idea how to play the character properly."

"Within a short space of time, you would be subject to the embarrassment of other players noticing your lack of skills, and it would be very apparent that you had either bought your account, or had paid to have your character levelled," she said.

But, said Ms Vaughan, worse than other players noticing someone has bought their account is catching the attention of Warcraft creator Blizzard. Selling accounts and in-game items is against the terms and conditions people sign up to when they start playing.

Blizzard has banned up to 100,000 accounts in a month for illegal gold trading or cheating in the game. In a statement the company said it took the action: "to promote a fun and fair environment for all our players."

It is easy to find places to buy and sell accounts
"Blizzard has an interest in enforcing its rules, but it has to spend substantial amounts of money to do so," said Greg Lastowka, a law professor from Rutgers University who specialises in intellectual property and technology regulation.

"Account sales can sometimes be hard to detect, depending on the technology that a game company uses to gather information about users," he added.

In this case Blizzard caught on quick. It banned the account about five days after it was sold.

Big business

While account selling is controversial among Warcraft players, for some it has become a business prospect.

"Account selling is a ludicrous business indeed. I have friends who make good money without moving one finger," the BBC was told by one player. "You can earn 200 euros without doing absolutely anything."

He said many buy a new account for 12 euros, then pay a gold farmer to power-level the character in 20 days and then when it had reached level 70 sell it back for 400 euros.

Dee Patel, an ex-Warcraft player and a game industry professional, admitted having sold his account for £650 on eBay.

"I could have been offered a lot more for my account but I was just wanting to stop playing and wanted to get rid of it," he said.

Last January, eBay banned on-line games account selling on its website. But thousands of other sites offer similar auction services.

Globally the business is huge. Edward Castronova, an academic studying the economics of online gaming at the University of Indiana, estimates that the real money trade - people paying real cash for virtual items - is worth around $300-$400m.

Oh lawds.

But then, the story got bettah:

$10,000 WoW Character Banned?

What does roughly $10K get you in the MMORPG aftermarket? For the online buyer under the pseudonym Shaks, his 7,000 Euros bought him a Level 70 Night Elf Rogue character from World of Warcraft, sometimes referred to as World of WarCrack for its highly addictive nature. The character also came with four out of five pieces of the Tier 6 armor set, and the Twin Blades of Azzinoth (for WoW virgins, the Twin Blades can be picked off Illidan's defeated corpse in The Black Temple. Bet you were just dying to ask!). Had that been the whole story, it'd still qualify for headline status, but the fact that the $10K account appears to have been banned by Blizzard propels it into 'must-post' status. Blizzard pooh-poohs selling accounts, stating that they do not "recognize the transfer of Accounts between individuals." Based on their policy regarding account transfers, and because the Level 70 Night Elf Rogue hasn't logged on since September 3, the real question appears to be who Shaks decides to sue, rather than whether or not his character has been banned.

AHAHAHAHAHHAHA.

Serious Gaming is Serious Business...SRSLY.

"Serious Games" aren't about hardcore gaming, they don't have blood, guts and titties in them and they're certainly not about being a member of the MLG (Major League Gaming) either. Instead, serious games are games created for educational purposes to spread awareness on world issues. For example, a sim based on how to rectify/ameliorate/eliminate the situation in Dafur or how to properly distribute food to 3rd world nations as a member of the UN's World Food Programme. They are learning and enrichment games to be used by secondary schools, universities, world governments and medical facilities.

Though not from this year's Game Developer's Conference, here's a little snippet describing what you'd hear attending a lecture on serious games:

Description: This session is intended to improve an understanding of Japan's potential to be a leading developer of serious game and COTS crossover technologies. Toru Fujimoto, the volunteer coordinator of the Serious Games Initiative's Japan outreach effort along with Akira Baba (Associate Professor, University of Tokyo) and Kiyoshi Shin (Coordinator of IGDA Japan Chapter) will provide a report of their combined efforts to define and evangelize the emerging serious games scene in Japan. While not as well established as efforts in the U.S. and Europe Japan has a rich level of COTS games that may prove useful as models for game-based simulations. The panel will provide an broad overview of specificly identified projects underway and point out specific COTS products and technologies unique to Japan that might have crossover potential into serious game efforts. Among the specific examples they will preview are an MMP for education being developed as a joint research porject between Japan and Korea. A game for rehabilitation being used at Kanagawa rehabilitation center and several University of Tokyo's game design projects.

Still reading? Good. Here's one of the slides from the presentation:

This year, two of the most successful serious game titles mentioned (and available for play) were:

"Stop Disasters," a turn based strategy game where you play a UN/ISDR member--try to prepare as quickly (in as less turns possible) for the disaster thrown at you (possible disasters scenarios include, hurricanes, tsunamis and earthquakes.) And one created by the French government itself called, "Cyber Budget" where a player puts his or herself in a state official's shoes and must properly distribute the nation's tax monies into various industries.

You can check out the full article here in Japanese. (Plop it into Babelfish.)

It's long but it's good interesting reading. A big difference from the gaming norm that's all about having the biggest cup size/smallest waist, whomping zombies with machetes and/or eluding the cops.

And if you want....

Remember "Lemonade Stand?" Where there you go. It got me to do math and have fun so...more power to the serious gamer and game developers!

Super Smash Brothers Brawl: Moar Characters Revealed!

Travel to the official site, Smash Bro's Dojo, to see the most recent character list for Wii's "Super Smash Brothers Brawl" coming out December 3rd, 2007 for the Wii.

The most recent, as in, today's newest challenger.......

MR RESETTI!

...

*Crickets*

It's the mole dude from "Animal Crossing."

Oh, right.

Anyhoo, more importantly, when is Slippy Toad going to become a character? When will I get the much awaited chance to punch Slippy Toad into submission (or better, into a bloody toady non-whiny pulp)!? If Metroid gets two characters (suited Samus and hot bitch Samus) then I think it's far for Slippy to end up everyone's fave punching frog.

Operation Troy: Game Play Video

Hmmmmm.

It's looking kinda slow and clunky. Wonder how the FPS view would look...?

Mail Call: Pre-Order Pet Pictures Revealed

Initial Reaction:

WHY THE FUCK WOULD I WANT A FUCKIN' PINE-OCK PET. It's got 4 fuckin' scrotums on its ugly ass face.

And now that I'm calm....

First off, I think that Jabba the Hutt is hot and that WoW Ogres are *le rawr* sexy minxes (the only reason I played so long) so my sense of aesthetics is obviously messed up. But to my Hello Kitty brain washed head,Pine-Ocks are still ugly as all fuck.

I'm not sure why they didn't make our pre-order "reward" a cute (and some what kinda' delicious looking) Lognar or an adorable Treeback Cub (which also would probably taste good dipped in chocolate or wrapped in bacon.) Instead they dangled a cute sounding word (Pine-Ock)and then sandbagged us with a literal dick face.

*sad*

And no, I wouldn't eat a Pine-Ock. And the Shell-Bot would make my lips puffy. xp

COD 4: PC Updates

Per 402, COD4's CMR on the Official Infinity Ward Forums:

PC Testing / Playing Mods
« on: September 24, 2007, 02:50:04 PM »

Hey Everyone --

Wanted to give you guys some more PC specific updates. Today, as I discussed last week, we have a member of the Shock'N'Awe clan in to test on the PC. We had him run through the Min specs for a few missions earlier in the morning and then upgraded him to a machine that fit his specs at home to see what he thought. He's currently playing through the entire single-player campaign on machine specs similar to what he plays with at home.

This is helping us hone in on a final decision on our min specs for PC as well as gather feedback overall on the game.

A lot of you have been asking for more info on the PC demo, at this time I still can't give any details on dates or what will be included in the demo but there is still one coming for the PC. It will arrive before we launch, but I can't give you an exact date, as soon as I can tell you when to expect it I will. You know it's soon, considering we launch Nov. 5th and it has to come out before we launch. It'll be plenty of time for you guys to play through it and have a great impression of what to expect in Nov.

We're testing more Mod support for the PC today, playing a few different mods created in-house by some of the team. Mod support is going really well for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare which is going to make customizing the game to your team / server 's liking that much easier. We were playing a mod earlier this week that allowed easy and quick customization of games by limiting weapons / classes / perks. For example, we played a game of Assault / LMG Classes only; then another game of Assault and Snipers only.

This is great for those of you who want very specific games running on your servers or for competitive gamers. All made possible through a quick and easy mod we've been calling Call of Duty 4: MODwarfare.

That's pretty much been our main focus recently, is heavily focused on these PC specific features and functions to really fine tune before launch since we don't have to submit to certification for anyone for PC so we have that extra time line to give it this special attention.

Gundam Tactics Online: Closed Beta Starts 10/29/07

I'm a sucker for big robots because I'm stupid, and an even bigger sucker for Zakus (explains why I've always liked the Pats) so when on mah daily visit to "4Gamer" I couldn't help but notice "Gundam Tactics Online," which is looking for CB testers from 10/1~10/14.

Here's the official website:

http://www.gundam-gto.jp/

The game takes place during the "1 Year War," so the angsty deliciousness that is Amuro shows up of course (no doubt whining over that slut bag Seila.)

Reaper: (No no, it's not a game.)

I don't watch a lot a lot of TV of late due to my compulsive gaming problem, but every so often I'll make time for quality programming such as, "Blind Date," "Robot Chicken" or anything involving the Patriots stomping the Bills to little Buffalo Bits!!!!!1111eleven!!11one. But being from Jersey, I must take an hour out of my busy schedule to support mah man Kevin Smith and watch me some "Reaper" premiering tonight on the CW at 9/8C.

The official write up thingy:

For the first 20 years of his life, Sam (Bret Harrison, "The Loop," "Grounded for Life") wondered why his parents went so easy on him. Whether it was school, sports or career choices, Sam's mom (Allison Hossack, "Falcon Beach") and dad (Andrew Airlie, "The L Word") always let him get by with the least possible effort. As a result, Sam skipped college, took a dead-end job at the local Work Bench home improvement store and now wastes endless hours playing video games. Everything in his slacker world changed the day Sam turned 21 and discovered the ungodly reason his parents let him slide: they sold his soul to the devil before he was even born.

Though his guilt-ridden parents try to explain the circumstances that led them to the forfeit his soul, Sam can't wrap his mind around what is happening to him. He's always been the under-achieving son, while his younger brother Kyle (Kyle Switzer, "15/Love") was pushed to get straight A's, excel at every sport and join every club. Kyle resents the easy ride Sam has enjoyed, and Sam can't help but feel jealousy over Kyle's achievements. What neither brother realizes is that their lives have been shaped by forces they can't yet begin to understand.

When Satan himself (Ray Wise, "24," "The Closer") drops by to personally explain that Sam must now serve as his bounty hunter, tracking down evil souls that have escaped and returning them to Hell, Sam refuses to accept his bizarre fate. After getting just a glimpse of Satan's temper, however, Sam realizes that breaking a deal with the devil has consequences that are very, very bad. Still, Sam is fascinated by the devil's charm and his flattering insistence that Sam is full of untapped potential.

Armed with a constantly changing series of vessels -- starting with a Dirt Devil mini-vacuum -- to collect the escapees, Sam finds that his new line of work is dangerous and frightening, even with the goofball help of his friends and co-workers Bert "Sock" Wysocki (Tyler Labine, "Boston Legal," "Invasion") and Ben (Rick Gonzalez, "Coach Carter"), along with Sock's former-girlfriend-turned-paralegal, Josie (Valarie Rae Miller, "Dark Angel"). Sock has been Sam's closest friend and slacker role model for many years and was the first person Sam turned to with the news about his gig with the devil.

A perennial adolescent who attended high school on the six-year plan, Sock is perfectly happy with his life and his job at The Work Bench, where he is a thorn in the side of the assistant manager, Ted (Donavon Stinson, "The Fantastic Four"). Sock thinks Sam's news is totally cool, and is happy to help with Sam's assignments from Hell. Ben, on the other hand, immediately grasps the seriousness of Sam's situation. A college student and the son of a reverend, Ben is also on board to help, but he knows that dealing with the devil is no game.

Sam knows he'll have to go to great lengths to hide his new identity from the person who matters most in his world: his smart and pretty co-worker Andi (Missy Peregrym, "Smallville," "Heroes"). Trapped by his lack of self-confidence, Sam has loved Andi from afar, despite Sock's constant urging that he ask her out. Andi had gone away to college, but came home to her mother and her job at The Work Bench after her father died. Now she's stuck in a safe job and a safe friendship with Sam.

Though his life has suddenly turned weird and scary, Sam is surprised to find that he somehow feels good about his newfound "mission" -- removing evil-doers from the world and sending them back where they belong. Back when nothing was expected of him, Sam never had to push himself to achieve. Now, with his friends and his trusty vessel-of-the-week at his side, Sam is ready to face his destiny as the Reaper.

"Reaper" is from ABC Studios with executive producers Michele Fazeka ("Ed," "Law & Order, Special Victims Unit"), Tara Butters ("Ed," "Law & Order, Special Victims Unit"), Mark Gordon ("Grey's Anatomy," Criminal Minds"), Deborah Spera ("Criminal Minds") and Tom Spezialy ("Desperate Housewives").

If that was too long to read, basically some parents sell their loser son's soul to the Devil and hilarity and hijinks ensue.

Hey, at least I'm not taking a break from video games to watch "The Pick Up Artist" or anything.

Force of Arms: Voice Overs Done By You...!?

Hehe,

I checked back in on their forums after a hard night of "testing" and saw a thread on their official forums entitled, "Voice Overs." A few posts down by Hamilton, War Dog's Prez-O-dent:

I'm thinking voice overs will not be available for all NPC's... well I dunno, maybe if we spend enough time on it, that can happen.
But voice overs for special NPC's (such as providing information or quests, etc) can be done.

Currently the plans for voice overs is to allow auditions by users to provide voices of NPC's.
Hey, why not? We all hear each other in Vent or Team Speak or some other VoIP system when playing these games. So why not let you, the players also provide voice acts for NPC's?

That would also save time for us in getting the NPC's with voice overs. All we then need to do is provide the voice over scripts (and maybe even accept some from the players) and link the voice overs with the NPC's via triggers.

WIN!

I have honed the art of voice actoring by mimicking Slippy the Toad for years now, so pick me to play the dumb bitch that gets "penis-sy" and dies right away!!

"FOOOOOOOOXXXXXXxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx!!"

(Not.)

Pick me anyways! Jersey accent is guud.

I'm not really sure why but they pretty much deleted all the old threads and are starting from scratch. I do see that they've added a section for the console version of Battlefield so perhaps this truly is the end of the road for PC BF.

On the other hand, I haven't played in like 2 weeks thanks to other pleasant distractions and I think my blood pressure's gone down not having to deal with idiots who like to hump Motion Mine Bait and punish for it. *purr*

In other news, 1.40 isn't out yet. SUPPLIES!!

Unfortunately this hasn't been posted in the news section just yet... (But will be shortly.) I'm posting here to confirm to what you may have heard already... Please read the full announcement below, including a message from Cevat Yerli.

CRYSIS SINGLE PLAYER DEMO MOVES TO OCTOBER 26, 2007

EA and Crytek are announcing today that the single player demo for Crysis is moving to October 26, 2007. The demo will also be released with Crytek’s CryEngine 2 – Sandbox 2 game editor, giving the community a great amount of hands on time with the powerful mod tools coming with Crysis before the November 16th release date.

Please see Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli’s note to the community for more details.

______________________________ _________________________________

Hi everyone,

We have some news to announce. First, I am sorry for the bad news - the Crysis single player demo will now be available everywhere on October 26th, 2007.

We are taking some extra time to make sure you that you have an amazing experience but also we did not want to risk the release date of Crysis at this stage. To get the game into your hands by November the 16th, we had to make this call.

Now the good news - the big surprise. The SP demo will be released with our CryEngine 2 - Sandbox 2 game editor, giving the community the opportunity to get familiar with the vast amount of tools they will have at their disposal four weeks before we ship, something we have always wanted to do.

This is an exciting time for us at the studio as the development of Crysis comes to an end and we are only a few weeks from Gold Master. We appreciate your patience and are looking forward to getting Crysis into your hands on November 16th.

Thanks

Cevat Yerli

Family Guy: Blue Harvest...Did You See It!?

**SPOILAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHSSSS**

Ahhhhhhhh. "Family Guy"'s always been a bit of a hit and miss show (with more hits than misses) but over all, tonight's show = WIN!

Bestestness was Herbert as Obi Wan. Ahhh, so wrong and yet...so right.

My faves:

--The garbage compactor scene.
--"Robot Chicken" discussion with Seth Green.
--As much as I hate him, Rush Limbaugh's cameo.
--Brian = Chewie = Fonzie.
--Thai Fighter (REPRESENTING!)

As for the worst sketch? It had to be Magic Johnson's Death Star tutorial video which seemed to go on and on forevah.

My not so faves:

--Thai Fighter (So terrible.)
--Too much dancing/singing Herbert.
--No JABBA!

Hope I find some clips online soon :)

Family Guy: Blue Harvest (1 Hr Long Star Wars Special)

Sneak Peek at "Family Guy: Blue Harvest"

September 21, 2007

Sneak Peek at the upcoming Star Wars tribute called "Family Guy: Blue Harvest," fans will see their favorite characters played by the somewhat snarky cast of "Family Guy," including Peter Griffin as Han Solo, Lois as Princess Leia, Stewie as Darth Vader, Brian as Chewbacca, Chris as Luke Skywalker. Cleveland as R2-D2, Quagmire as C-3PO, and Herbert as old Obi-Wan Kenobi, among others.

Dominic Polcino, the director of "Family Guy: Blue Harvest," thinks fans will get a special kick out of seeing a pint-sized Sith Lord. "Stewie playing Darth Vader is a delight -- it's great to see all that evil boil down into one tiny little character," Polcino laughs. "That's going to be a lot of fun for fans to see."

"Aren't you a little fat to be a storm trooper?"

It's on tomorrow night, 9/23/07 @ 9/8c PM on FOX.

Tonberry = WIN!

Ahh, watching that really really is tempting. But I must resist. RESIST! Else I'll end up really not having a life again. But I have to say how much I really love how awesome the cut scenes made you feel in FFXI and I especially love the sense of accomplishment you get from that game (which is sorely lacking in any other MMO.)

*tear*

I watched both version (JP and NA) and there is the US Ship date of 11/20 and the JP release date of 11/22. Other than that, the "tone" of the characters was more personal in the JP version. Like the punk ass kid spoke more like a kid than the flowery ass prose of the US version.

Tokyo Game Show 2007: Impress TV Impressions

Impress TV has put up some mini interviews with the various PR folks from the major booths at the Tokyo Gsme Show 2007. You can view them all to catch clips of game play (the concept of the TGS this year must be, "playability,") but they are in Japanese. As an aside, the host chick is not that cute to look at but she does seem to know her stuff which is better than the other fake gamer bitches.

Leading Hype Hoggers:

Sony Booth: Hypes the PS3 and PSP, mainly "White Knight Story," for the former and "Minna no Golf 2" for the PSP (and it's revealed that the purple and blue PSP are the top sellers amongst the ladies.) Giving away...a card game for their "Eye of Judgment" promotion.

Microsoft Booth: No surprise, the hype revolves around "Halo 3," and they might have mentioned "Ace Combat 6." Giving away...NOTHING!?

Capcom: Biohazard: "Umbrella Chronicles" (and the Wii Zapper), "Wii Love Golf," "Basara 2" and "Devil May Cry 4." Giving out DVDs, Stickers, DMC keychains, towels.

Tecmo: The Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword DS Portable and another Golf game!? GODDAMN. Giving away mainly Ninja goodies like posters. And "LOTRO" complete with an official cosplayer, aka, "LOTRO Image Girl" nicknamed, "Yubiwakko," or "Ring Girl." *snicker* And "War Rock" for some reason. This section had lots of bitches in bathing suits and all chick PR people. Take that! If you don't have a lot to show, show skin!

Taito: Cooking Mama 2. MOAR RECIPES. WANDAFUUU. Arkanoid and Space Invaders!? Giving away...Cooking Mama 2 erasers shaped like fruit (SO CUTE) and a Space Invaders hankie (SUPER CUTE.)

Marvelous Entertainment: "No More Heroes" for the Wii. You talk to the hero through the "Wii Phone"!! (Well, you hold the Wii remote up to your ear.) Giving away...a pamphlet, a "Lux Pain" light novel and a "King's Tale" crown (WTF--BK rip off.) Oh, but then they redeem themselves by allowing you to take a pic with Princess Apricot some asian bitch with blond hair. WIN!

Star Ocean 4: Tokyo Game Show 2007 Tidbits

Source:

My quickie translation:

Hardware: Undetermined "Star Ocean IV"
--Release Date: Undetermined
--Price: Undetermined

Although its development had been previously reported during the "Square Enix Party 2007" that took place in May, 2007, its movie finally played across the big screen of the Open Mega Theatre [at TGS]. It seems that the setting will take place years before "Star Ocean I," Space Year, 0010, where huge colonies float amidst the endless backdrop of the universe. A battalion of of attack craft appear on the scene, and one can imagine the sort of large scale battle that is about to take place. From there, the scene shifts to a galaxy dotted with a number of small floating islands. On one of these small islands, a young man and woman stand. The moment the young man touches one of the ancient monuments on the island, a emblem appears upon the back of his hand. Who are these two figures? And in what direction will this newly spun tale take--?

Though the hardware is still undetermined at this point, along with the release date and pricing, the highe quality of the movie shown seem to suggest the PS3 or XBOX 360 perhaps? Cant' wait to see more!

Age of Conan Friday Update: Q&A Session 2

Friday Update: Community Q&A #2

- Sep 21, 2007
When we took questions from our community, the response was so overwhelming that we had to split the answers into several parts. Herein, another selection of questions from the community and answers from the development team.

Eligoh: In one of the E3 Previews, it is stated that, “In Age of Conan, there are two NPC factions fighting each other, so you can choose to fight alongside one of them or completely ignore their war.” Could you go into details about these two factions? What are the benefits for fighting for either one of them?

A: This was an old design for PvP, which was removed in favor of the guild-based Border Kingdoms of today.

SweBarbarian: Will there be dungeons that have a large level range (like level 30-70) and contain many different types of mobs (more than 10), or will there only be 2-3 types of mobs with only a narrow level range (level 30-34)?

A: There will likely be more variety, but the level range will be somewhat more like the latter, rather than the former. If you try to go too wide, you make a bunch of content not fun or usable for a group of people.

AraBeta: Will there be usable furniture, such as beds and chairs you can sit in?

A: Yes, you can sit in chairs, and possibly use some beds, also.

Roffkaiser: What sorts of weapons fall into the class of thrown weapons? Please tell me not Shurikens! And will they have ammo if things like bows and crossbows don't?

A: They themselves are the ammo. There are light throwing, which are like knives and axes, and heavy throwing, which is like javelins.

Malefacus: Quest logs are painful and un-useful, nobody reads them. Will every quest in AoC be given with a cutscene like with an NPC talking to you with actor's voices?

A: While we have over 100 voiced characters, not every quest will be voiced. However, all NPC dialog (voiced or not) is done through the cinematic window. Quest logs are for giving the player the ability to review quest goals and backstory at a later date, not to present initial information. I don't see how this makes them painful or un-useful for most.

Vikingvinter: Will there be quests only available to certain classes/class quests?

A: Yes, certain quests are for certain classes only.

Roffkaiser: How fast is the day/night cycle?

A: We're currently fine-tuning this as we figure out what is best and get feedback from the beta players, but right now it's roughly 2.4 hours per cycle.

PersonalJ: Will guilds be able to recruit all 3 kingdom “races”?

A: Guilds can recruit however they like to their guild.

Anksunamon: Will equipment have a negligible impact on the game? Is it mostly cosmetic?

A: Equipment is far from cosmetic. It is important to wear good armor and wield good weapons, but the difference is that this alone will not make up your character in Conan. Knowing how to play will make a big difference as well.

Malican: Will items and equipment vary greatly in style and looks to allow players to customize their looks? Or will everyone look the same (based on armor type)?

A: The artists have done an excellent job of making a lot of unique-looking armor. Which armor everyone ends up wanting to wear will largely be based off players' own desire for a certain look, or their desire to min-max and feeling something is “better” than something else.

I suppose this is better than the drinking cape. :( From the other videos I saw though, the armour in this game looks tight. I hope they do the one thing DDO did right (other than supply me with endless laffs at stupid people who thought Water Works was hard) and have 20+ designs for each type of armour type that's determined randomly. Kept people not looking alike despite the limited character creation.

Tabula Rasa: End of Beta Dated

To be October 12th by mod Critters in this thread inquiring about the game's official release date.

But what amazes me is not the ass kissing, but how someone with the intelligence (?) to purchase the pre-order to play/sign up on Gamespot to play and then start a thread could not simply search for TR's release date on their own without employing the almighty power of the 1337 TR community.

Idiocracy the movie is not far off I see.

Tokyo Game Show 2007: Day 1 Eye Catching Entries

A couple articles that interested me from Game Watch and the official TGS site.

Anyhoo, here is the link to the PDF from the official TGS site I read about these releases:

Bandai Namco:

--Ace Combat 6 (360) 11/1/07

--Family Trainer Athletic World (Wii) 2008
--Soul Caliber Legends (Wii) Winter 2008

Koei:

--Sangokushi Online (PC) 9/27/07 (Open Beta)

Konami:

--Dance Dance Revolution THE HOTTEST PARTY (Wii) 10/25/07
--Metal Gear Solid Guns of the Patriots (PS3) Winter 2007

Nothing new really I'm afraid.

Here's the Square Enix offerings though:

Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon!! FIRAGAZAGARA~kupoooooooh!

And the Beautiful Katamari Stage event. Cute!

And then there were dumb looking titles like "Dress," where a person can try on different outfits through their PS3...WTF!?

Thank goodness Dante was also there to save us:

FFXI: New "Dancer" Class Revealed

Per Game Watch:

So, it was announced over at the Tokyo Game Show on 9/20/07 that FFXI's newest expansion disc (US Title: Wings of the Goddess//アルタナの神兵) dated 11/22/07 will feature the the "Dancer" class and revolve around the dun dun dun, "Crystal Wars."

Supposedly there's a movie gonna be shown on the official site on the 22nd showcasing the class so I'll be keeping an eye out for that.

Almost makes me wanna go back so I can be a sexah dancing Elvaan bitch! (But no.)

BF2142: Patch 1.40 The End of the Line?

Could it be?

Source:

Plans for 2142 Expansion or Booster Pack Scrapped

Written by David Stellmack

Wednesday, 19 September 2007 05:30

Looks like the end of the road for 2142

Word has reached us today from a reliable source, that any plans that might have been in the pipeline for an Expansion Pack or additional Booster Packs for Battlefield 2142, look to have been scrapped.

Rumors say that the sales for the title were just "OK" and the number of players playing the game continues to dwindle.

Dice has all hands on deck for the production of Battlefield: Bad Company for the Xbox 360 using the new "Frostbite" engine, in addition to the other mystery project that they are working on.

Rumors that Battlefield: Bad Company will also be released for the PC continue to be unconfirmed by Dice regardless what other sources are saying. Only time will tell if this title will be ported over to the PC platform as well.

Development and bug fixes of the 1.40 patch with the Highway Tampa map for 2142 continue, but no word on a potential release date has indicated yet. The 1.40 patch could be the last for 2142 if our source is correct.

But then again, am I really that surprised? Not like there's been any support for the game in like forevah anyway and some of these fucktards playing the game now aren't making me want to come back.

Oh well! It's Crysis/COD 4 time!! Woot!

Superman: Doomsday (Animated Movied) Review

***MANY SPOILAHHHHHHHHHHHHHs***

...

WTF.

Seriously.

I'm not a big comic geek (I liked "Sandman," "Preacher," "Kingdom Come" etc). But I sure as hell kept up with the "Death and Return of Superman" arc.

Apparently, the makers of this animated movie did not. Well, they got the "Death" and "Return" part done. Oh, and they remembered to put Superman in it too (+1). But that was about it. I don't even know where to start, so here are some peeves in random order:

--Doomsday looks like he went on Jenny Craig to attract the ladies. He's what now? A size 2? 4?
--No Man of Steel.
--No Cyborg Superman.
--No Last Son of Krypton.
--Kinda not really Super Boy.
--No Super Girl.
--No Justice League.
--No Blue Beetle getting his ass whupped like a dirty bitch. (OWNED!)
--No Booster Gold getting his ass whupped like a dirty bitch. (x2)
--Funeral? What funeral? Superman died...and then I accidentally looked away while I was killing something in a game and ZOMGZ, wait, he's back? (I thought the DVD skipped.)
--Adam Baldwin as Superman...HUH? WHAT? Did he even care? He sounds like a creepy perv in a Japanese train.
-Anne Heche as Lois Lane. I think she's sucking on a cotton ball when she's reading her lines (or some other balls since she's not a lesbian anymore.)
--Jame Marsters as Lex Luthor. No. You're Spike! DO NOT WANT!
--Terrible ass animation. Please, hire some Koreans.

There's more but then you might get the impression that I didn't like the movie. (WRONG SUCKAHS. I hated it.)

Anyhoo, here is what the movie did right:

--Superman is spelled correctly.
--Kevin Smith cameo.
--Lex Luthor trying to get some from Lois Lane and getting rufi'd in return. (WIN.)
--Lots of blood and action.

Enjoy if you're not a big comic book stickler (it's not bad if you're watching it stand alone), but for me, the best and memorable parts of the arc were forgotten/left out/changed.

The Chronicles of Spellborn: Trailers/Updates/Screenies

This is old but I think it still shows off some nice images for TCoS. Unfortunately for that entire duration there's some ho singing in it blocking the game footage. (MOVE!) Apparently a lot of people said the trailer and singing gave them goosebumps but for me it was hives as I don't particularly enjoy that type of wahhmbulance type music, oh sorry, "Symphonic Metal." *snicker*

Anyhoo, the link. You have to give 'em an email address:

Spellborn and Within Temptation today released 'The Howling' to selected music and game websites worldwide. 'The Howling' is a 6 minute long gametrailer for The Chronicles of Spellborn featuring a song written exclusively for the game by Within Temptation. You can check out a 1 minute preview on the websites listed below or you can surf to www.the-howling.com to register for the full 6 minute version. Enjoy!

As for release dates, the there's still no US publisher (which is fine by me since I'll just play the EU-UK version). The most recent post about open beta is dated JULY 2007 and says:

darkone1687 wrote:
Any Idea when open beta starts... It says in the first post around April but it's July and it's still not open... Are there complications or is it going to be open really soon?

Since our release date was postponed since the first post of this thread has been made, open beta date moved to the future as well.

And as I chronicled a bit before, the 3rd CB was extended...but for how much moar!?

Meanwhile, the great INTERWEBZ gossip column that is the MMORPG.COM community suspect the following:

Its been set for a Q4 release this year in europe. I've heard that US should be a month or two after the europe release. Being in the US, this upsets me because I can't wait to play this game...I would throw away the halo 3 i'll be getting in a few days to play this game...but I'll have to wait...

Until then...time to blast some demons. WAHAHAH.

p.s. The newest screenies can be found in dis thread.

Crysis: Top Secret Campaign (Lameness Warning)

Unfortunately, it has nothing to do with the movie of the same title. (Chocolate Mousse!! Deja Vu! Haven't we met before?) Nor does it have to do with honorable great leader's exalted plan to get rid of those dastardly punks from Team America.

Instead, it's let down story line crap. Way to dash my hopes.

Top Secret: Leaked Document from North Korean HQ

An unidentified U.S. double agent has stolen a HIGHLY CONFIDENTIAL document from the North Korean Headquarters which is located on the strategically important location close to Kiribati Island, given the codename "Shore" by the U.S. troops. We must protect this person's identity, but we at Nanosuit.com believe that all knowledge is for the people, and we want to share this new information with you.

Mind you, this document is classified as a major leak of restricted North Korean information. As always, Nanosuit.com wants to bring you information first, but we can be sure that the North Korea secret service is going to be hot on our trail. Take a look while you can!!

Perfect World INTL: Translation Updates

Per Daemonator:

Hi guys,

I really appreciate your understanding and we really apologize for the long wait but we're really working hard on getting the game up and in at least average to good English. As such, I'm posting information on the process that is undergone for the translations for the game.

Perfect World Translation Process

Phase 1:
The Chinese used for Perfect World is very complex even for avid Chinese language users. As such, translating the text into English takes a massive amount of time and careful consideration on the meaning and final words to be used. This is very much so for the names of Places, Monsters, NPCs and certain objects. A normal Chinese game with simple and commonly used words would take about half the time or even less to translate if compared to Perfect World. I have received many comments from local Chinese gamers that even they do not understand much of the text in the game. Translators will find it very difficult to translate if they are not very familiar with the game and the storyline.

Phase 1 consists of the first level of translation which means a group of translators goes through the entire Chinese text in Excel format and delegates the sections of text to be translated. Translation of place names, NPCs and monsters is done first so that all these can be standardised for all the other sections. This is one of the most excruciating parts of the process as the translators are required to first understand the text (many of the names are not commonly used), they may need to refer to online information, books, dictionaries and more to decide the closest match to the original.

It normally takes more than 1 person to actually decide the names. The decision to use Westernised names for the NPCs was so that they would be more easily identifiable for English oriented players from a wider base. Romanised Chinese names could still confuse certain players.

This phase decidedly took longer than expected so phase 2 went ahead while Phase 1 was being worked on still.

Phase 2:
This includes the translation for the in-game message system, quests/missions, descriptions, NPC text and others. While not as complex as translating the names, the amount of text that was to be translated was massive. As in Phase 1, without a proper understanding of the game, translation would be difficult. Translators are required to go through the game at least through the earlier levels to get a feel for the game. Much of the text would only come in at the middle and advanced stages of the game where the quests would be more complex and the storyline more developed.

The total number of lines of text that were translated numbers in around 98,000+++++ including names, descriptions and all. The translators literally worked day and night with only little time to rest. The translations went through at best speed since 6 months ago. Since we did not use any other versions of Perfect World for translations, everything was done using our own resources and we tried as best we could to keep true to the original version without loss of meaning.

Every translation of the quests and storyline needed to keep true to the standard given by the pre-translated names in Phase 1 so the names were not to be confused or different from each section.

The translations for the website are also done at this stage and referenced from the translations done. This includes the storyline, guides, descriptions and more. The non in-game portions such as the guides are quality checked and corrected before going live.

Phase 3:
This part of the process includes the first quality control check as well as the translation for the in-game graphics. The in-game graphic translations include the main launcher, loading screens, buttons, menus, in-game action graphic text and more. Due to the space limitation of the graphics, the English text had to be shortened significantly and we had to employ other methods such as reduce the text size, use abbreviations and others.

The text translations are also test integrated to view the translations in-game to check the text. Each line of text that was translated had to adhere to the text space limit for each line to avoid concatenation. The text which are found to have visible errors or are out of place are modified and reintegrated to test. This portion is very time consuming and requires a lot of modification.

Phase 4:
The grammatical errors are checked and modified as necessary by the translation team. This includes the process of relocating the text to grammar correction software, checked and reinserted into the main text file. All this is done line by line to ensure everything is done properly. All this is done while adhering to the text space limit.

Up until this point, there are still ongoing changes made to the translations including place names, monster names and others. This is done after considerations on the suitability of the names for the game.

I have also asked for assistance from forum members about the correction of grammar especially in the quests section. There is a large amount of text and it needs to be understandable.

Phase 5:
At this point, most of the translations are incorporated into the test game platform and the game client itself is being tested for bugs and other client or technical related problems. There were a few major bugs but they have already been resolved during the earlier stages. Progress in this phase depends heavily upon the game developer as their assistance is greatly required in preparing the game client. Completion of this phase will provide a stable Closed Beta client for production.

The translators for Perfect World have done a great job so far in the time-frame that they have. 6 months for a project of this scale is actually quite short in comparison. They've worked hard day and night to complete what they have so far and I would like to personally thank them for their efforts. Translation from Chinese to English is not easy and there tend to be many misconceptions and lost meaning through the translations but I believe that we will achieve a fairly good amount of original content transition. Even seasonsed Chinese language users have found the Chinese used in Perfect World to be difficult to understand.

Finally I would like to thank all of you once again for your kind support and understanding. Please bear with us for a little while longer and you will have a quality product which you can definitely enjoy.

Thank you.

I think this means that I'll be playing this about the same time as I get let into the Hellgate: London beta. In 2038. Or worse, in 2142 (which is when the 1.4 patch is scheduled to come out.) OH SNAP!

Anyhow, I finally succumbed and have started to download the Chinese version. I tried to get the JP version to work (since at least I wouldn't have to patch that) but seems that I can't actually get into the game. *sad* Oh well, moar waiting!!

Ahh, I can't wait to upgrade my comp to be able to play it at max.
