Halo MMO Gossip!

I'm a sucker for gossip because well...I'm stupid and speaking of gossip, according to Gaming Target:

EGM predicts FPS-MMO from Bungie?

The Rumor Mill page of EGM's December issue may have just revealed what Peter Jackson's Halo project is all about OR another seperate Halo FPS-MMO all together:

"Microsoft may start a war--word is they're making a massively multiplayer online first-person shooter for 360. Hmm, wonder what Bungie is up to?"

We know for a fact that Bungie isn't done with the Halo universe yet and that the newly independent developer is in on Peter Jackson's Halo project. Since his secret game's genre is still undefined, it's definitely possible that it could be an MMO title. Granted, Microsoft has gone out of its way to refer to Jackson's Halo project as "interactive entertainment" as opposed to a "video game," so this may be an entirely new adventure in the Halo universe. But, having an unlimited amount of Spartans fighting each other is what I would call interactive entertainment, too.

Furthermore, what better way is there to introduce the MMO genre to legions of console gamers than to have Halo spearhead the effort? Whether this MMO is part of Peter Jackson's project or is an all-new game, look for the Halo FPS-MMO in the future.

HmmmMMmmm. Hope it's not for the XBOX.

Halo maker parts from Microsoft

Halo maker parts from Microsoft

Bungie, the developer of the hugely popular Halo series, is to part company with owner Microsoft.

In a statement, the two firms said they would "forge a new long-term partnership" based around new games.

The move will surprise many in the games industry, despite rumours about a split in recent weeks.

Bungie is now a privately held company in which Microsoft holds a minority stake. Recent release Halo 3 racked up $300m in its first week on sale.

The Halo series has sold more than 18 million copies worldwide since the first game was launched in 2001. Halo 3 has become the fastest selling game of all time following its launch on 25 September, with more than three million copies already sold.

Bungie now has a long-term publishing agreement with Microsoft Game Studios for future Halo titles.

Harold Ryan, studio head at Bungie, said Microsoft's platforms would remain the firm's "primary focus" but the move opens up the possibility of the studio developing for other consoles.

"Bungie is like a shark. We have to keep moving to survive," said Jason Jones, Bungie founder and partner.

Shane Kim, corporate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios, said the company was "supporting Bungie's desire to return to its independent roots".

He said Microsoft would to invest in Halo entertainment property with Bungie and other partners, such as Peter Jackson, on "a new interactive series set in the Halo universe".

"We look forward to great success with Bungie as our long-term relationship continues to evolve through Halo-related titles and new IP (intellectual property) created by Bungie," he added.

Halo 3: Finish the Fight (to keep down your crappy drink)

...

I went to the supermarket to pick up some milk because while I'm a gamer at night, during the day time, I'm a regular, breathing (sometimes), ambulatory human being. As I made my way past the pork ribs and the oddly tempting chocolate chip Twinkie ailse, I saw him. Mah Master Chief!! SEXY!!

Well, it was a cut out of him about 6 foot tall and he was hawking some of that limited run Mountain Dew "Game Fuel." (And I think it's the same stack that was there a month ago but just with a cut out this time.) I wanted to take him home and cut the "Game Fuel" out of his hand but alas, there were people watching me so I had to slink away a broken woman.

And by the way, I hate Mountain Dew (oh oh, is this gamer blasphemy?) And I certainly don't need extra caffeine in "Game Fuel" playing an FPS. Fuck, Crystal Light makes me twitchy. But I wouldn't mind having a Master Chief cut out. Maybe I'll head back there after the campaign and swipe him because there are SO MANY GAMERS AT A SENTRY IN WISCONSIN. *purr purr* I bet that stack of "Game Fuel" will still be there.

Halo 3: Arms Race (Live Action Trailers) Part 1 and...2!?

The original trailer was released during E3 a few months ago and it looked pretty tight although I did not see any hobbits or elves in it (Peter Jackson is supposed to be executive producer of the Halo Live Action Movie after all.) And now Major League Gaming has managed to get its Cheetoe encrusted hands on part 2, albeit unfinished. View them in fanboidom until 9/25/07 and the actual game comes out:
