You Play Like A Girl

Noob Tube

I was playing a little COD4 the other day on Vacant when all a sudden some heated bitching about a noobtuber scrolls up on my screen:

"You fuckin' noobtubing pussy."

To those familiar with FPSes, pillow talk like that is pretty normal and actually, pretty tame faire, especially for the COD4 crowd. But for those of you who prefer MMOs and aren't familiar with FPS terminology, a noobtube is usually an over powered but easily accessible weapon that takes little to no skill to use (for example, a rocket launcher or grenade launcher with sexy splash damage that you kinda' sorta' mabbe' aim in a general direction and rack up kills with.)

I don't think much about it, since I've heard much better and much more original insults with that one, usually involving someone's mother, a donkey and some cheese.

"You can't aim so you gotta' fuckin' use the noobtube, you fuckin' noob?"

I check the score. The noobtuber's only rank 14/55. He probably hasn't been playing very long, and when you start, you pretty much got the noobtube and nothing else perk wise.

I continue playing, hear some more bitching and drop an Airstrike on B since lots of idiots like to hide there in them weeds. Score! Here comes my Chopper.

And then, something that catches my attention.

"You play like a fuckin' girl."

Whoa whoa whoa whoa.

I check the leader boards.

I'm second. Where are they? Ohhh, both somewhere on the bottom on a 32 man server.

And oddly enough, I get ticked. Ticked enough to speak out.

At the end of the game I type, "You just lost to a "shitty" girl, moron."

(I know I know, not the wittiest come back, but you don't have a lot of time to type between rounds!)

* * *

Some believe that women gamers simply don't exist, a myth like the mighty Chupacabra. But in truth, WE ARE OUT THERE--we're simply stealthy and elusive. Like a Ninja (or should I say Kunoichi), or better yet, the magnificent Jackalope.

You see, the majority of competent female players tend to keep quiet, going about our business whether it be topping the DPS charts, dropping air strikes on vital choke points or "melting your face" without ramming our gender down your throat. We are "gamers" just like anyone else as opposed to "ZOMGZ TEE HEE grrl gamers," and the few that you do encounter telling people to "LOL Stop shoting, I'm a girl," or "My DPS is low because I'm PMSing ^^" are the vocal minority that give us all a bad name.

We are confident in our skills and don't need to use gender as a crutch, we can get our own Epics, and we aren't just cannon fodder for your AK-74u.

So the next time you're online someone calls you a "girl" think about it.

Is it really THAT bad to play like a winner?

XD

I CAN GAME AGAIN!

Woot!

But only at night when the baby is the sleeping.

You can take the gamer out of Hyrule, but you can't take Hyrule out of the gamer (!!??)

And of course that means it's time to snuggle huggle "World at War" for many many nights.

*purr purr*

Dare I venture into MMOs though? Perhaps when she's a wittle older though now that my guild's moved to a PVE server....

"Robotech" Live Action Movie Heading Our Way

I'm back from semi-retirement!

And why? Because of this awful (!?) news from The Hollywood Reporter:

Big-screen 'Robotech' lands scribes

Alfred Gough, Miles Millar to pen adaptation

By Borys Kit

Nov 17, 2008, 12:00 AM ET

Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have been drafted to pen "Robotech," Warner Bros.' adaptation of the anime classic.

Akiva Goldsman and Chuck Roven are producing with Tobey Maguire and Drew Crevello.

"Robotech" was a 1980s cartoon series from Harmony Gold USA and Tatsunoko Prods. It was re-edited and re-dialogued to combine three Japanese anime series to give the producers enough episodes to air as a daily syndicated series.

A sprawling sci-fi epic, "Robotech" takes place at a time when Earth has developed giant robots from the technology on an alien spacecraft that crashed on a South Pacific isle. Mankind is forced to use the technology to fend off an alien invasion, with the fate of the human race ending up in the hands of two young pilots.

Lawrence Kasdan wrote a previous draft. Warners is intent on keeping the project moving forward, and Gough and Millar bring action and geek cred to the table. The WMA-repped duo worked on "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" and "Spider-Man 2," among other films, and were showrunners on TV's "Smallville" for many years.

Frank Agrama of rights-holder Harmony Gold is executive producing "Robotech," as is Jason Netter.
Head for the hillllz! Who's gonna' be cast as Minmay!? Is it going to be Jessica Biel!? Or the obligatory Asian Kristen Kruek since she's on "Smallville"? Either way, I love crap (I watch those terrible Sci Fi original movies like "Minotaur") so I'll definitely be watching out for this crap!

Wahahah.

Oh, and retirement = I had a baby. Yay me.

Don't worry "Call of Duty: World at War" and "Left 4 Dead". Mama hasn't forgotten you. Oh no. I just have to teach my little girl to use a mouse and we'll have another gamer girl!

COD4: The New Maps Revealed

I'm was slow on noticing all the descriptions on these (mainly since it'll be a while until/if we ever get them), but for you PS3 and 360 people, check out the maps you'll be paying for. (*snicker*) OR, if you STILL haven't picked the game up and want to play for the console, pick up the Game of the Year ed with a token for the map pack included:

Great news, Charlie Oscar Delta!

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare will soon gain some new battlefields in the form of a Variety Map Pack. The new downloadable maps will be available on Xbox LIVE® Marketplace in early April for 800 MS Points.

The critics are buzzing about Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare's new additions. See what IGN , GameSpot, TeamXbox and GameSpy had to say about the new Variety Map Pack. While you're there, don't miss the first gameplay footage videos of the new maps.

Below is a description of each of the four new maps...Check them out!

Individual DLC Map Descriptions:

Broadcast
Its size and alternating routes make "Broadcast" great for large team games. A large, multi-story television station with plenty of window vantage points creates the perfect setting for floor-to-floor combat. The station is surrounded by extensive outdoor areas consisting of a long parking lot, surrounding buildings with sniping hiding spots and side-rooftop access to the top and bottom floors of the television station.

Creek
A large wide open village in the woods, "Creek" consists of heavy foliage, great for sniper cover: a deep ravine offers an excellent vantage point for ambushes; an underground cave offers an alternate evasion route; and various multi-floor houses populate a patchwork of connected farmland. This extensive open map is great for snipers with plenty of natural coverage consisting of rocks and trees. There are various routes for advancement from both high and low vantage points over and underneath the hillsides. Another great map for large team games.

Chinatown
A modern revision of the classic Call of Duty "Carentan" map, "Chinatown" takes players to the foggy downtown district of a Chinatown. A night time setting, the cityscape is well lit by the full moon and the glow of brightly colored lanterns and neon lights from local businesses. This district offers a variety of open-street and interior settings, perfect for fire fights throughout the connected roads, courtyards, antique shops and markets within it. Great for all game types and players.

Killhouse
"Killhouse" is an enclosed warehouse made of plywood structures, mock-ups and speed-run courses used for training, creating the right mix of obstacles for small team games or free-for-alls with a variety of soft and hard cover points spread throughout the entire ground level

Also arriving soon is the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Game of the Year Edition, giving gamers the chance to experience the intense cinematic action of the original game while expanding the online experience of 2007's top-selling game by including a free token for the Variety Map Pack. The Game of the Year Edition is scheduled for release at all retailers nationwide on April 3rd.

We have PS3 news as well. In addition to confirming that the Variety Map Pack and Game of the Year Edition are headed to the PS3, we are happy to announce that the New PS3 Patch is Live!

Check out the improvements the new PS3 patch brings below:

  • New Kill Cams - Everything that can kill you has a Kill Cam now: grenades, airstrikes, claymores, C4, M203 Rounds, RPGs, anything. Jump online, get owned and check them out. They're awesome, especially Grenades and M203 shots that go across the map and through a window.

  • Improved Sniper Accuracy - The Sniper rifle accuracy has been improved. Your crosshair will be a better representation of where your shot will ultimately land. Try out a sniper class today and up those head shots!

  • Improved ACOG Scope Accuracy - ACOG scopes accuracy on any weapon has been improved. Test it out, throw it on one of your classes and give it a go.

  • Upgraded Spectator Cam - Now when you're a spectator you have the option to follow in 3rd person or 1st person. As well as rotate 360 degrees around the player you're watching. Next time you're dead in Search and Destroy, watch your teammates do stuff you know you could do better!

Additional Start Spawn Locations in All Maps - Added a minimum of 9 extra start spawns on each side of all maps

Hey Soldiers, We need your help deciding who the Photoshop Contest winner is. Just for voting you'll receive 1000 points!

COD4: Yellow Fever (Chinatown) Coming to the PC?

This is possibly some good news. That's right. Despite reports earlier on that we PC users should not be expecting to see the new official maps from the COD4 Variety Map Pack, it seems that we'll be seeing them after all, albeit later on.

Better late than nevah!

According to 402's blog:

Right now plans for the PC version are unannounced but we are working to bring PC users the same content in the future, however logistics are being worked out on how to make that happen.
Maria's Bakery, come to me! <3 Big Wong. People who know know what I'm talking about.

I wonder if we'll be required to pay as well?

Call of Duty MMO in the Works?

w('o')w

Would You Play a Call of Duty MMO?

Activision CEO Bobby Kotick floats the idea at an investor conference.

March 4, 2008 - Speaking to a group of investment analysts today, Activision CEO (and soon to be Activision Blizzard president and CEO) Bobby Kotick said the company is considering turning its Call of Duty franchise into a massively multiplayer online game.

Kotick briefly touched on the idea in answer to a question at the 2008 Morgan Stanley Technology Conference about how merging Activision with Vivendi Games might open up new opportunities for both companies.

Before closing its deal with Vivendi (which owns Sierra and Blizzard), Kotick said Activision looked at five years of data on U.S. publishers' attempts to break into the MMO market. Most resulted in failure, cancellation or low profit margins. By teaming up with Blizzard, which has proven its online mettle with World of Warcraft, he said Activision can not only pull in WoW's subscriber base to strengthen its balance sheet but also to learn from the company's veterans how to undertake new projects.

That could include tapping Blizzard talent to figure out how Activision might take Call of Duty in an MMO direction, Kotick said. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, developed by Infinity Ward, was a huge hit for Activision in 2007 and routinely appears at the top of Xbox Live's weekly list of most-played games.

Kotick only touched briefly on the CoD MMO idea and went on to discuss the future direction of the Guitar Hero franchise, which will likely see user-generated content and more tie-ins with Vivendi's Universal Music Group going forward.
Let the rumours fly!! FLY~~~~~!!

Another Server Bites the Dust + (Girls w/ Stupid Names)

:(

Goodbye stupid servers filled of people who think they are godly. It's too bad you guys are so full of yourselves that you can't imagine any one person or any clan being better than you. I can only imagine how the conversations go (names have been changed to protect the stupid):

|EcG|Douchebag: We're so 1337!
|EcG|Camper: Yeah! No one will find me camping back at the spawn (because everyone else I play against in TDM non/HC camps too.)
|EcG|Douchebag: Whoa wait, why are people killing us on our own server?
|EcG|Camper: Yeah! I don't have UAV Jammer and I've been sitting here like FOREVA. HOW COULD THEY HAVE SEEN ME!!!????Eleventyone!!??
|EcG|Admin: BANNN THE HAX0RZZZZzzzz!!

Then like half of them alll went to spectator mode to watch people living in reality play/able to shoot a slowly moving targets (hope you learned something). Unable to find any hax going, what else could they do but kick/ban.

*snurf*

Sorry (most) of your guys suck.

On to the next rant!!

If you're going to name yourself SexKitten or GirlwitGun or LadySomething that makes you blatantly a woman, learn to play please. Don't perpetuate the stereotype that we women suck. Practice practice practice and kick some ass. At least try instead of sitting back and spamming the fuckin' chat with:

StupidGirl: Gosh, you guys are so good! XOXOXO
StupidGirl: OMGZ, I'm just a girl!! <3
StupidGirl: Owwwiee! Don't shoot me!

...

Dumb.

It makes my teeth hurt when chicks do shit like that and give the rest of us a bad name. GTFO if you're trying to find a boyfriend in a fuckin' Public Server. (At least go HC.)

COD4: Everyone Loves Them Some Hooters!

I noticed a bunch of new player made maps had come out recently that didn't consist of a square with a blue strip and a tanker truck, so today, myself and a few clannies went to visit the Hooters All Modded Map servers. I don't remember what it's called, but the IP is:

8.12.23.2:28960

Thankfully, the got rid of those terrible "sniper" maps and put in some really really good ones. My fave of the night was "Car Park." Very well made, four stories of mayhem and even a floor where you had to bust out the good ole' night vision goggles.

We also played us some Matamat (sp?) which was another very good city map (lots of places to hide and hunt), and Village, which was awesome, but a little too big for the 10 of us on it. "Office" was another very well made one, and I admit that I went, "AWWWWWWWWWW" when we played the "Toy Soldiers" map (great concept/not very well balanced I think.)

Anyhow, if you grow tired of Crash HQ then I recommend checking out the new maps....and a few old. Yup, there's the good ole TV Station on "Sharqi Peninsula" (awesome) and also "Harbor" from COD2. Can't wait to see Carentan.

A couple duds, but over all, very good times....until a certain venereal diseased squad got on and started throwing their stupid accusations around. Then it got to be very great times using the RPG, Knife, Pistol and C4 onry to kill 'em. Thanks! (But Snake VD, you're a good spot.) <3

If you guys end up checking it out, be on the look out for my alter ego, =SDF= Minmay or my friends at =HP=.

COD4: More Maps Coming...For Console Onry!?

As if the 1.5 patch wasn't an insult in its 10 meg self, more sad news for us PC folk:

2008-02-04 | Written By: CHARLIE OSCAR DELTA STAFF

Great news, Charlie Oscar Delta!

Activision and Infinity Ward report that new global conflicts are planned in the form of downloadable multiplayer maps for the award-winning Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. In development for both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the upcoming downloadable content will thrust gamers into a hot zone of added combat across a variety of intense multiplayer locales.

"We've demonstrated our commitment to delivering the best multiplayer experience in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and that continues with our plans for new downloadable content," explains Infinity Ward's Community Manager, Robert Bowling aka Fourzerotwo. "We're excited about the new maps, and the added gameplay variety, and we can't wait to wrap things up and get online with everyone."

The new downloadable content is scheduled for release this spring, and will be available on Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation Network.

Stay tuned to CharlieOscarDelta.com for more information and updates on Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare!

Sure we get mod tools, but I'd much rather play an official map than a two dump truck map with a river in between and over active kill triggers. *tear* I am interested in mp_village though. That actually looks pretty sexah.

Best Selling Games of 2007

According to the BBC anyhoo:

2007's best selling game revealed
Call of Duty 4
Call of Duty 4 has won many awards since its launch
First-person-shooter Call of Duty 4 was last year's biggest selling game, according to sales figures.

It has sold more than seven million units since its launch in November, says its publisher Activision.

The claim is based on sales figures from research firms The NPD Group, Chart Track and The GFK Group.

The game was just one of a raft of high profile releases in 2007 including the third instalment of the Halo series for the Xbox 360.

Halo 3 earned more than £84m ($170m) in sales in its first 24 hours on release, according to Microsoft.

The game sets the record for the most money earned in a day by an entertainment product, topping figures set by film Spiderman 3.

'Perfect 10'

However, Microsoft recently announced that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare had overtaken Halo 3 for the first time as the most popular game on Xbox Live, based on unique users.

FROM THE DOT.LIFE BLOG
Dot.Life blog graphic, BBC
It is a game that is unafraid to take chances
Darren Waters, technology editor BBC News website

And despite being released six weeks after Halo 3 it has also sold more units.

"We're very excited about this achievement especially given so many competitive titles this year," said Will Kassoy, of the game's publisher Activision.

Call of Duty 4 was developed by Infinity Ward and is available for PC, PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.

It follows the story of a American and British Special Forces in Russia and the Middle East and won "Best Action game" at the video game industry's leading event, E3.

It also won the Spike TV awards for "Best Shooter" and "Best Military Game".

However, the title narrowly missed a perfect 10 out of 10 score in computer game's magazine Edge.

Halo 3, The Orange Box and Super Mario Galaxy all achieved a perfect score.

Maybe now they will make more official maps for it? I don't want to play any more custom maps where accidentally brushing against fauna results in a kill trigger. *snurf!*

COD4: Stage Fright, Go Away!

Stage fright, go away,
This is my big day.
This is my time to be a star!

That's right. You're looking at =SDF= Minmay for the time being as we work up to rank 55 again (for no reason except to do it of course.)

MP5, I mocked you in the past, but I was so wrong about you. And C4... <3 I definitely did miss my 3x Frag though. There were some points where they would have come in handy.

Some douche kept calling us hackers since there's NO WAY a rank 8 & 9 (my buddy) could possibly take 1 & 2 place. Unfortunately, when that very douche keeps running into my MP5 + Stopping Power, what's a girl to do? But I suppose he would whine getting kilt over and over again by two of the few peeps who don't camp/noob tube/bunny hop/nade spam/dolphin dive. (Spray and Pray? Guilty though.)

On the other hand, I'm glad to see that the new PB update actually caught a bunch of hackers. I had seen 1 or 2 previously over a long stretch, but today it was like POW POW, Aimbot, Wall Hackers, CVAR this and that. Unfortunately, they were only banned for "five minutes"? Hmmm.

Behold: http://www.pbbans.com

And and so we visited the Hooters Modded Map Only Server at:

8.12.23.2:28960

I guess the majority of these modded maps are like terrible sniper only maps where if you venture too close to the water you get kill triggered and everyone laffs at you, so a good time was not had by all. I do enjoy the brief "respawn immunity" we got however on them however, and the Hooters guys ([DD]) run a good server. Thanks for having =SDF=/=HP= for a wittle bit.

And as always, =RIP= Snow Crash 24/7, we do love you always to help warm up our cold fingers.

COD4: Surprise Announcements Coming Up?

I'm a sucker for the missions they have on the Charlie Oscar Delta site and noticed that they put the following mission up:

Charlie Oscar Delta!

While this community site will be live and active for the next few months (including more missions, prizes, and maybe even a surprise announcement or two), we are already putting in much thought into what the next Call of Duty gaming community will look like. We want your next community experience to be even bigger and better, so we have some questions for you about what you thought of Charlie Oscar Delta.

Please take a second and let us know what you thought of our community!
What could it be? Did Blizzard buy them out as well? Will I be able to play a Shaman and shoot lightning out of my hooves at dolphin diving, bunny hopping whores!? Or is Infinity Ward dumping the PC for the Mac entirely so we can play with our one, pearl pink mouse button?

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing some bigger maps show up (like the entire area behind the barn that I think Gaz busted open on Overgrown) and some riding lawnmowers with mounted machine guns to chase people around with. DERICIOUS!

Can't wait to find out!
