EA and Crytek Announce Development of Crysis Warhead

The Next Installment of One of the Highest Rated Games of 2007 Blasts its way onto PCs this Fall

Redwood City, Calif. - June 5, 2008 - Maximum freedom, maximum explosions and maximum Psycho! Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) and award-winning independent studio Crytek today announced Crysis Warhead ® - the parallel story to Crysis , one of the most critically-acclaimed first person shooters and PC games of 2007. Shipping exclusively for the PC this fall, Crysis Warhead is the first title to be developed at Crytek´s Budapest studio, and is built on a new, enhanced and optimized version of Crytek's CryENGINE® 2 technology.

"We were very pleased with the reception of Crysis from both gamers and media after our launch last year," said Cevat Yerli, CEO and President of Crytek. "That being said, one of the key principles of our studio is to always raise the bar. With Warhead , we are focusing on refining our storytelling and game performance, while also delivering more of the visually stunning graphics and immersive, free-roaming gameplay everyone loved in Crysis ."

"The best result of a partnership that we can ask for in the EA Partners program is when a world class independent studio like Crytek chooses to continue to work with us," said David DeMartini, Vice President and Global General Manager, EA Partners. " Crysis was an amazing game and is going to be a blockbuster franchise. We could not be more excited to be working with Crytek to launch another hit with Crysis Warhead this year."

In Crysis Warhead , players will don the Nanosuit of Sergeant Sykes, also known as 'Psycho', one of the most memorable characters from Crysis . More brash and aggressive than his Delta Force squadmate Nomad, players will experience Psycho's parallel story during the events of the original game, finding that life on the other side of the island is even more intense and explosive than they ever could have imagined. Luckily, Psycho's Nanosuit is just as capable and he's equipped with an even bigger arsenal of fully customizable weapons and new vehicles, giving players access to the tools they need to dominate any situation. Aside from this new, exciting single player campaign, Crysis Warhead will also feature new multiplayer content. Stay tuned for more details this summer.

Crysis Warhead has not yet been rated by the ESRB or PEGI. For more information about the game, please visit www.crysisthegame.com .

Crysis MechWarrior Mod Coming Soon!! (I Hope!)

Thanks so much Lobo7922 for bringing this to my attention!

The website is:

http://www.mechlivinglegends.net

And these guys are a group working on bring a full on MechWarrior mod for Crysis!!

Here is the long, but very good to read introduction to the project by the Lead Dev, Criminal:

MechWarrior: Living Legends (MWLL) is a total conversion mod for Crysis. We have already assembled a dedicated team of over 40+ members from various gaming development backgrounds who are eagerly awaiting projects and currently hard at work on all assets that are to be imported into the game from BattleMechs to player models ALOT is always happening with the MWLL team.

The main reason for making this mod were that their has not been an updated "MechWarrior" game for at least 5 years and there is a HUGE mechwarrior fan base out there just waiting for a quality title to be released!

To give a bit of history The Team here at MechWarrior: Living Legends started with four members in early Decemeber of 2006, initially we were building a mod to be used in the Doom 3 engine, however, with the introduction of the Crytek2 engine we decided that if we are going to do wide sweeping environments with really high attention to detail the Crytek2 engine will be far more suited to what we need. Since then our team has began to grow very quickly as the battletech community feels the need for a new and improved mechwarrior title! We finally launched the site in Febuary and have been blown away over the interest that has already been generated!

We have recently been featured on very popular Quake Wars and MechWarrior fan-sites as well as entering into partnership with the software developer for “GeoControl” and Total Quake Wars. We have also entered into a mutualy beneficial partnership with the alternative rock band "PlusminusX" whom will be doing the soundtrack for MWLL. We have also been featured in the popular French PC gaming magazine "Vossey Mag" as well as various interviews for battletech and quake wars fansites alike.
In addition to all of this we have received full sponsorship from two very large Game service Providers, namely, MyInternetService (http://www.myinternetservices.com) and ClanWarz (http://www.clanwarz.com)

Many hardcore Battletech fans have asked, "How accurately will you stick to the battletech rules/artworks and so on?The MechWarrior series from Microsoft, which are thought to be the computer game belonging to the original board game, introduced a lot of new Mechs, rules and weapons. Together with its arcade-like gameplay it made them pretty unpopular to "real" Battletech players because it didn't have much in common with the novels, source books and rules of the board game."

This issue is an extremly important factor to the entire team, we are truly staying as faithfull to the classic Battletech rules/system as we can whilst maintaining a modern outlook on the concepts. A good example is all the infantry weapons have come from the Battletech technical readouts in addition the mech weapons will be balanced using Classic Battltech rules, however, the vehicles will be slightly less specific and more well rounded. One that is important to not is that since we are doing something using the Battletech universe that has never been done before it is almost impossible to implement everything from classic battltech so we are forced to pick and choose some of the more exciting fun components than the mundane slower ones. As far as the gameplay genre it will be a combination of first person shooter and simulation...very similar to the ET:QW and battlfield 2 style of play. Since we are intergrating infantry, mechs, tanks and air vehicles all onto one map you will get a choice on how YOU want to play rather than it being pre-determined for you. Rest assured though that the Mech movement will be far more realistic than it was in previous mech games, most of the team really disliked mechassault because frankly a 70 needs to move like a 70 ton machine!

In summation, i just want to welcome you to our project and I hope you come and meet us on the forums.
I will start keeping an eye on this site now to see how they're doing! You can check out screenies and other media here in the meanwhile!

Just seeing the word, "Solaris" attached to a screenshot makes me all happy inside!

As for the latest status on the mod, here's a thread to read through!

Oohh, maybe it'll be the Open MP Beta. *purr purr*

Crysis: Single Player Demo

Woot!

I just played through the demo and I must admit, I had a (literal) blast. The game comes with four modes, the biggest difference being the Koreans speak less and less Engrish. (Oh yeah, and the sighting gets more basic.)

But so far, I love the NK soldiers screaming, "I kill you for five!!" For five what biotch!? As I shoot him in the FACE!! THE FACE!!

The Delta Difficulty Setting:

Anyhoo, although you can obviously stealth and snipe, after awhile I got bored of it--okay, so I was tagging the NKs through my binocs on top of a mountain, fell down and forced them to call for backup--and then it got moar fun. I ended up stealing their jeep and just ran down folks and shot 'em with the mounted machine gun (meanwhile, Prophet's yelling, "Keep a low profile!")

Whoopsie!

So, yes I'll be playing this at launch (I already enjoy the multiplayer portions) and heck, I might even *gasp* play through the Predatoresque single player mode as well.

"Come on out you American Pig!"

MmMM! Good stuff!

This was followed by a lot of kissing up at Violet, T-Shirt hawker extraordinaire, which was then followed by posts dissing EA. THE CIRCLE OF LIFE!

Wow, EA is really making me happy, i wonder if they would accept if my immediate payment is goin' to take a couple of days without any kind of information.
Here in holland there are no immediate access reports and happy subscribers neither.
Well done again EA, first you suddenly put a time limit on the download i buy. Ofcourse with money you can buy some extra download time, but i already paid for these games. No more advantage here for digital download buyers.
second, you totally **** up medal of honor airborne, this release is also goin' to lose you a lot of potential customers.

promises, promises, promises. And when the potential customers buy the product, the service ends immediatly. Sad but true.

Just like Micky Dees, I'm loving it.

But don't get mad at Crytek.

Crysis: Official Specs Announced

Per the Official EA Boards!

The Countdown to Crysis Continues - 11.16.07

Let the speculation come to an end! EA and Crytek are announcing today the minimum and recommended system specifications for the highly anticipated first person shooter Crysis.

Featuring some of the most jaw dropping visuals in a game on any platform, Crysis will not only be pushing the boundaries of all of the latest technologies like DX10, Nvidia's GeForce 8800 series GPUs and Intel's Core 2 CPUs, but will also be playable on gaming rigs up to 2-3 years old from the game's November 16, 2007 ship date.

"Our vision for Crysis has always been to create the most stunning, immersive FPS experience ever, and we've been working hard not only to do that on the high end, but also in pushing current generation hardware so that everyone gets the maximum experience," said Cevat Yerli, CEO of Crytek. "And while these specs affect how Crysis will perform now, we have also optimized Crysis so that the game scales forward 1-2 years --we want to make sure that Crysis' gameplay, visuals and performance improves as technology does."

Additional note from Cevat Yerli:

"Our goal with Crysis was to create the most technically ambitious computer game produced to date. What does that mean exactly? Well, technology in games is traditionally pushed in one of two directions. Either towards visual fidelity (comprising polygon throughput, draw distance, animation systems and advanced shader technologies) or, more rarely, towards, through the direction of persistent physical interaction within the game world (so that what you see is what you get, and more importantly can use).

In making Crysis we decided early on to push both directions as far as we could; we invested heavily in the high end in order to create the most visually impressive and immersive experience for players, and to effectively future-proof the game for the next few years. Crysis is pushing about 10x the data we had in FarCry, which is phenomenal.

Like putting the proverbial quart into a pint pot, scaling this back through optimization to our stated goal of rigs 2-3 years old has been a huge challenge, but we are very happy with the results so far and specific tweaks are still happening as I type. Our recommended and minimum specs have been released today, so we hope this finally puts people at ease about what hardware they will need to get the most out of the game on November 16th."

Here are the minimum and recommended system requirements from Crytek and EA:

Minimum System Requirements

OS - Windows XP or Windows Vista

Processor - 2.8 GHz or faster (XP) or 3.2 GHz or faster* (Vista)

Memory - 1.0 GB RAM (XP) or 1.5 GB RAM (Vista)

Unfortunately this hasn't been posted in the news section just yet... (But will be shortly.) I'm posting here to confirm to what you may have heard already... Please read the full announcement below, including a message from Cevat Yerli.

CRYSIS SINGLE PLAYER DEMO MOVES TO OCTOBER 26, 2007

EA and Crytek are announcing today that the single player demo for Crysis is moving to October 26, 2007. The demo will also be released with Crytek’s CryEngine 2 – Sandbox 2 game editor, giving the community a great amount of hands on time with the powerful mod tools coming with Crysis before the November 16th release date.

Please see Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli’s note to the community for more details.

______________________________ _________________________________

Hi everyone,

We have some news to announce. First, I am sorry for the bad news - the Crysis single player demo will now be available everywhere on October 26th, 2007.

We are taking some extra time to make sure you that you have an amazing experience but also we did not want to risk the release date of Crysis at this stage. To get the game into your hands by November the 16th, we had to make this call.

Now the good news - the big surprise. The SP demo will be released with our CryEngine 2 - Sandbox 2 game editor, giving the community the opportunity to get familiar with the vast amount of tools they will have at their disposal four weeks before we ship, something we have always wanted to do.

This is an exciting time for us at the studio as the development of Crysis comes to an end and we are only a few weeks from Gold Master. We appreciate your patience and are looking forward to getting Crysis into your hands on November 16th.

Thanks

Crysis: Top Secret Campaign (Lameness Warning)

Unfortunately, it has nothing to do with the movie of the same title. (Chocolate Mousse!! Deja Vu! Haven't we met before?) Nor does it have to do with honorable great leader's exalted plan to get rid of those dastardly punks from Team America.

Instead, it's let down story line crap. Way to dash my hopes.

Top Secret: Leaked Document from North Korean HQ

An unidentified U.S. double agent has stolen a HIGHLY CONFIDENTIAL document from the North Korean Headquarters which is located on the strategically important location close to Kiribati Island, given the codename "Shore" by the U.S. troops. We must protect this person's identity, but we at Nanosuit.com believe that all knowledge is for the people, and we want to share this new information with you.

Mind you, this document is classified as a major leak of restricted North Korean information. As always, Nanosuit.com wants to bring you information first, but we can be sure that the North Korea secret service is going to be hot on our trail. Take a look while you can!!

Stay tuned to www.nanosuit.com as we will have more exiting news for you!

Crysis Multiplayer BETA Clarifications & Information

HURRAY!! I almost cried when I saw I missed the first batch but now I'm otay.

Crysis Multiplayer Beta – Community Clarification

A note from Alex Marschal, Crytek Community Manager on behalf of the Crytek Dev Team:

Greetings Community!

Today we would like to take the time to clarify some hot topics that appeared on many forums of your Fan & Community Sites. It is mainly related to the Beta and should address the biggest concerns of our community. We hope that people take the time to read through this whole message.

Now let’s get started with the first topic…

Missing public announcement

As many of you may have recognized, there was no public announcement from either EA or Crytek regarding the Crysis MP Beta. The reason for this was that this batch 1 of the Beta is an internal test only and is not the actual start. The official Beta for Fileplanet subscribers is almost ready and there will be a huge global announcement with lots of information included. Additionally this announcement is just the beginning of an upcoming community focus – so expect a lot more information in form of screenshots, videos, reports, events and much more to be ready for you!

Batch 1 – Friends & Family internal test

Quite a few of you wonder why you haven’t had any chance to sign-up for the first batch of the Beta. This was due to this first batch being available for a pre-selected group only. The members of this group are people who have been invited by EA and/or Crytek to join the Beta program of Crysis. There has been a very limited number of available keys for them. Additionally Fileplanet gave a few of their Founder’s Club Members the chance to sign-up for this event as well.

This is our final test to verify the stability before the initial Beta begins. It is an important test for EA and Crytek since we can see how everything works under real life conditions. This internal test is not directly related to the rest of the Beta. Therefore we did not plan to official announce it.

Payment required to access the Beta? No!

We have read a lot of posts about people who mentioned that you need to pay additional money to be able to join the Beta. Just let me get this straight – this is definitely not the case. When you have a subscriber account you will be able to sign-up for one of the upcoming batches.

The payment many of you have been discussing about was related to the Founder’ s Club membership of Fileplanet which was needed to get one of the very few places in the first batch. Founder’s Club membership is not necessary to take part in the upcoming batches.

Crysis Beta leaked information

On behalf of Crytek and EA we ask you to not post any content if you signed up for the Beta. It is a closed event and is covered by a NDA you have accepted during the sign-up process. Posting screenshots, videos or other internal information from the Beta is a violation of the NDA and will cause in an immediate and permanent ban from the Beta program.

The whole Community Team has tons of exclusive information and content available for the Crysis community during the whole Beta program. So be prepared for some exciting weeks and please respect the rules of the NDA.

So that’s it from our side. Thanks a lot for giving us the opportunity to write this email to you. We hope the hot topics got clarified now.

Regards,

Crysis Dev Team

Stay tuned as we will have more exiting news prepared for you! For more information, visit www.nanosuit.com
