Freebie Time: Rising Eagle

Need to waste some time but don't want to splurge on it? Fileplanet is offering a free download of the indie shooter, "Rising Eagle" to everyone.

According to the mini description:

Rising Eagle: Futuristic Infantry Warfare redefines the pace and gameplay of multiplayer tactical shooters. Set in 2040, gamers participate in the conflicts of tomorrow in urban and open field infantry combat. Equipped with exoskeleton suits, C&C systems and an obscene amount of fire power go visit your dream locations: Paris and China, and then blow them to pieces! (You can bring your buddies too).
Apparently, busting into the market was a bit rough for Invasion Interactive and server pops were low. The game doesn't look that bad, but it is a bit primitive graphically:

But then again, it's free, so check it out if you have time to waste.

So I was trying to do Dreamlords and I can't get the site to open at all... just wondering if you had this problem and if so how you fixed it.

Hey Gamer Girl, found your blog very randomly. Did a search for "impressions on cabal". Anyway, I snooped around a little bit and saw a lot of posts on Hellgate London by Flagship Studios. I never really played HL because of the terrible reviews, but I was just curious to know if you have heard of their new game called Mythos. Its a Free MMO Diablo 2 style and 1up has a preview vid on it. Was just kinda curious to see what your thoughts were on it. Later.

Sorry about not getting back to you quick (but blame Rainbow Six.) About Dreamlords, I think the servers have been down for the past couple days. I checked it this morning (Monday) and it looks like everything is back up again. Also, there's some cached news on Google that while their servers were off for 14 hours, no information was lost.

As for Mythos, if you played HG:L alpha/beta, you pretty much got a free pass into Mythos. Mythos was much more primitive (closer to the 3/4 top down view of Diablo) than HG:L, but I'm not sure how much it's changed since I played. The graphics were simpler, the UI was simpler, and from what I understand it was meant to be a testing ground for a lot of HG:L stuff and server stability.

As for HG:L really isn't bad at all if you are more of a casual player. I think that for me and my friends however, we were a bit too hardcore and went through the content much too fast. We ended up replaying the game and classes way too much. If you manage to snag the game for cheap (like pre-owned or on a discount rack, I would say try it out. The subscription is optional (and at the time I was playing, it honestly wasn't worth it one bit. There is supposedly more content now with StoneHenge.)

I am not sure my PC can handle HG:L. Haven't upgraded anything but the memory since 06. I consider myself a casual gamer when it comes to RPG's. Loved D2, couldn't get into WoW or GW because it required to much thinking and action on my part. I like to casually sit back and listen to a podcast while playing RPG's. That is for the PC at least. For consoles I am more of a fan of games like FFX, and Shadowhearts: Covenant. I am only a hardcore gamer for FPS's like CoD4, CS 1.6 and CS:S, TF2, Halo.
